Mileage Reimbursement

Overview

The Iowa Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) adjusts the rate of mileage reimbursement each year for travel by use of private auto.

The per-mile rate is the rate allowed by the federal Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for the business standard mileage rate in effect on July 1 of each year.

EFFECTIVE DATES

The mileage reimbursement rate applies to travel by use of private auto from July 1 of a given year through June 30 of the following year.

  • July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024:  Sixty-five and one-half cents ($0.655) per mile
  • July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023:  Sixty-two and one-half cents ($0.625) per mile
  • July 1, 2021 – June 30, 2022:  Fifty-six cents ($0.56) per mile
  • July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021:  Fifty-seven and one-half cents ($0.575) per mile
  • July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020:  Fifty-eight cents ($0.58) per mile
  • July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019:  Fifty-four and one-half cents ($0.545) per mile
  • July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018:  Fifty-three and one-half cents ($0.535) per mile
  • July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2017:  Fifty-four cents ($0.54) per mile
  • July 1, 2015 – June 30, 2016:  Fifty-seven and one-half cents ($0.575) per mile
  • July 1, 2014 – June 30, 2015:  Fifty-six cents ($0.56) per mile
  • July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2014:  Fifty-six and one-half cents ($0.565) per mile
  • July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013:  Fifty-five and one-half cents ($0.555) per mile
